En dat is me duur komen te staan.
Het VU heeft voor mij een brief gestuurd naar een plastisch chirurg hier dichterbij (super!!!). Met de vraag of hij mijn arm een aantal keer zou willen opvullen.
Dat scheelt me elke 2 weken een reisje naar Amsterdam. Als het goed gaat kan ik hier vaker terecht.
De chirurg vond het goed en dus meldde ik mij afgelopen dinsdag in het ziekenhuis bij hem. Zijn verpleegkundige en hij schrokken flink van mijn arm.
Zoiets hadden ze nog niet gezien, volgens hen was dit een beginnende decubitus wond. Hier schrok ik best van! Decubitus, dat was toch een doorligwond?
Maar een decubitus wond ontstaat als gevolg van druk-, schuif- of wrijfkrachten op het weefsel. En dat is wat er bij het hoekje in mijn arm gebeurt.
Ik moet het goed gaan masseren en drukken, eventueel met een verband, om de druk van het hoekje af te halen.
Daarnaast vond hij een maand geen opvulling veel te lang. Zo zou alles inkapselen. Na navraag wat dat was, vertelde hij dat het vast zou groeien.

The VUmc has sent a plastic surgery closer to me a letter. With the question whether he would do the injection in my arm a few times.
It saves me some trips to Amsterdam (which is about 2 hours with the train for me). He agreed, so last tuesday 27th sept I went to the (new) hospital.
He and his nurse were both a bit shocked by my arm, the sensitive edge to more specific. They told me this was the beginning of a (im not sure what the exact english word is)
pressure ulcer/bedsore. Of course I was shocked by this!
The edge of the expander puts pressure on my tissue and skin, so that explains it all.
I had to massage it really well and press, with bandaid for instance, it back to release some pressure.
Besides, he said that a month of not filling up was not good. It was way too long in his opinion. The expander would like... ´stick onto my tissue´. I´m not sure how to
explain in english, sorry for that.
Heel even twijfelde hij om mijn opvulling te geven.
Ik vertelde hem dat ik alleen een injectie van hem wilde als hij het zeker wist. Hij durfde het risico aan en spoot het water in. Het inspuiten ging erg moeilijk voor hem,
met veel kracht op de spuit. Dit kwam dus mede door het inkapselen, vertelde hij. Na 25 cc stopte hij.
For a moment he thought whether he should or shouldn´t fill up my expander. Of course I told him that I would only want him to do it, when he was absolutely sure.
He understood and decided that he would do it. The filling itself needed a lot of pressure to push the water in. He said this was because of the sticking of the expander.
He managed to get 25cc in.
Na de spuit pakte hij mijn arm vast. Het stond al een stuk boller, zo ook het ´beruchte´ hoekje. Hij pakte mijn huid en trok er hard aan. Van schrik trok ik mijn arm terug.
De arts vroeg of het pijn deed, maar ik antwoordde dat ik het vooral eng vond. Ik ben er zelf zo panisch voorzichtig mee, dat zelfs als iemand er al naar kijkt, ik mijn arm
wegtrek. Gelukkig ging het harde gemasseer op mijn helemaal goed, de huid kan toch nog wel wat hebben! Dit moet ik zelf nu dagelijks gaan doen, om het inkapselen en wondje
wat te helpen genezen. Volgende week dinsdag kom ik weer terug bij hem, voor een nieuwe opvulling.
Met een gemengd gevoel liep ik de deur uit. Het is super dat ik nu een aantal keer hier terug mag komen. De VU heeft dit super opgelost voor me.
